There's an additional dynamic with building cannons and shooting each other across islands, it's a bit too situational but at least adds some depth. Its time to fight back against exploitation and corporate greed. The game works in two phases, where first you claim as much land as you can as fast as possible (my tip to new players is to focus on building walker units ASAP at the beginning), then as the land dries up you have to fight a war of attrition in strategically flying over to each other's islands, possibly fighting for them or doing a suicide attack by flying over, placing a harvester, and dooming them to a slow oblivion. Help these three lovable losers as they endeavor to change the world (and maybe even save it). There's only one type of unit you move around to fight and claim spaces, and it's all based on a simple "do I have more units than you?" dynamic. You can also build armories, but have to consider where to place them so you don't destroy them while harvesting. The basic premise being you place Harvester buildings to collect resources while simultaneously lowering and destroying the land you're on. Of course, this is a title for those in search of quick bouts of superb strategy gaming. Both the single-player and multiplayer portions of the game are great fun and boast loads or replay value. It's got a minimal amount of mechanics, turns are quick, and the win condition is intuitive - destroy or claim the land your opponent owns. is an excellent, user-friendly turn-based strategy title. It's also online-capable, but of course you'll only get matches going with friends now.īut really, it's the perfect simple strategy game for local multiplayer. It's got a decently entertaining campaign mode, which is a bit annoying in that it forces you to play that to unlock more maps for multiplayer, but it gets you familiar with the mechanics. Other than Greed Corp, the hexagonal turn-based strategy game coming this spring (and previewed below), there is a twin-stick shooter taking place in the same world that will come out this fall.
